FIA GT1 World Championship

Seiji Ara for SwissRacingTeam FIAGT1With Seiji Ara (36) from Japan Swiss Racing Team succeeded in bringing a strong fourth driver into the team. He will share the NISSAN GT-R with starting number 4 with Swedish pilot Max Nilsson. The Japanese, winner of the 24 hour Le Mans race in 2004, is one of the most famous race car drivers in his home country. He has been competing in the Japanese GT Championship for almost ten years, being one of the top pilots.
Managing director Othmar Welti is thrilled, “Seiji Ara is a powerful asset for the team. He is a strong driver with great experience and a proven track record. I am particularly happy that one of our NISSAN GT-R’s will be driven by a Japanese pilot. He is a dedicated team player and we are glad that he is part of our team.” Seiji Ara competed in the GT 500 in Japan in 2007-2009 with J. P. de Oliveira (BRA), and de Oliveira started in the 2001 German Formula 3 Championship for Swiss Racing Team.

The first race of the new FIA GT1 World Championship will take place at Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi (UAE) on April 17th.
